NOTCH

NOTCH is a reversible, adhesive-free fabric tape engineered for seamless, repeatable garment alterations, repairs and customisations.

On average garments are worn only seven times before being discarded, and just 40% of the clothes we own are used regularly. The fast fashion industry thrives on consumer dissatisfaction - producing clothing that lacks quality, proper fit and enduring style in order to drive continuous overconsumption and disposal.

This project is hopes to reduce reliance on unsustainable and unethical fashion practices. By offering users a convenient way to build a wardrobe that aligns with their personal style and preferences.

NOTCH is a double-sided, flexible tape designed to attach to fabric using a series of mushroom-shaped notches that interlock when the fabric is stretched over. It functions without adhesives or stitching, allowing it to be repeatedly attached and removed. It can be attached anywhere on the garment allowing for endless styling options and opportunities for repair.

This provides a significant advantage over existing solutions, particularly in terms of end-of-life garment disassembly. NOTCH enables full separation of components, reducing contamination in textile recycling supporting a more circular fashion system.
