AEGIS
AEGIS are the first shin guards designed for female athletes in sports like football, shinty and hockey.
Designed by Dean Quinn
Shin guards are typically marketed as “universally fitting,” but in practice, they are designed with male athletes in mind. This leaves female football, shinty, and hockey players wearing equipment that doesn't match their anatomy—resulting in poor fit, discomfort, and reduced performance. Many female athletes also report issues such as chafing, restricted movement, and lack of coverage, yet are forced to compromise due to the limited options available.
AEGIS directly addresses this long-standing oversight. These shin guards are specifically designed for women, with a focus on anatomical fit, breathability, and comfort—without sacrificing protection. Through athlete feedback, I identified key problem areas and developed a design that contours to the female leg, improving mobility and reducing irritation. The shell is made from lightweight, impact-resistant polycarbonate, while the inner foam layer is breathable, soft, and washable—ensuring hygiene and long-term comfort.
The result is a shin guard that doesn’t just offer protection—it promotes confidence, performance, and inclusion. This reimagined design brings long-overdue attention to the needs of female athletes and represents a meaningful step forward in sports equipment innovation. It fills a crucial gap in the market and champions the idea that protective gear should be made for different user groups, not just the average male.
